Masses segmentation technique for detecting nodules in dense breast images

Implementation of a processing scheme based on the Watershed Transform, designed to detect nodules in digitized mammographic images from dense breasts. This is a part of a CAD scheme in mammography. Pre and after processing techniques (histogram equalization and labeling) were also used. The results have shown that the techniques combination applied to a set of about 200 regions of interest could detect approximately 93% of existent nodules.
